Thorn Bush Mission
Parenting is the toughest job in the world. The responsibility of raising a child can mean a radical change in your relationships with others. Parents often gravitate toward parents of their same age with children of their children’s same age. Conversations revolve around each child’s triumphs and struggles. Milestones are compared and obsessed over.
For parents with children on the autism spectrum, life doesn’t exactly work this way. The struggles are all too apparent. The struggles are dramatically different. The triumphs seem too few. They might be too difficult to explain. They might be incomprehensible to other parents. At times it seems like there’s a big glass wall between parents with children who are hitting all their milestones and those with children who appear to be falling more and more behind.
The Thorn Bush seeks to offer Oklahoma families with children on the autism spectrum an opportunity to speak a common language with other parents who are experiencing the same struggles and triumphs. We provide parents with an open forum, devoid of any political agenda, to share their heartbreaks and their joys, their ideas and their questions. We invite you to share your stories with us!
